Muhammara, an Arabic word that translates to "reddened" is given its name due to its rich color which comes from its main ingredient of roasted red peppers.  The popular puree is mixed with toasted walnuts, sautéed cumin seeds and pomegranate juice.  Muhammara originates from Aleppo, Syria one of the celebrated ancient culinary cities and is now enjoyed across the world.
